Educational Workshops
Another service provided by Bill Moore is the running of educational workshops in schools . Bill offers a wide range of pottery actives and for all ages for schools from Year 1 right through to Sixth Form. He has worked in a number of schools in North Somerset and surouding Bristol areas.

The workshops can be for small groups of 10 to 15 to whole classes making a number of different item’s, for example tiles, animals, faces and working on the wheel.

Workshops can also be for whole year groups or even whole schools making one or two items, for example I recently worked with Y1 and Y2 year groups of 85 children over 4 sessions in a one-day with everyone making a bedroom name tile. This workshop also included a demonstration on the Potters Wheel and talk about the pottery process, glazing and firing at the beginning of the session.

Bill has also run similar workshops making faces or gargoyles. Some of the images of gargoyles were made at a recent two-day clay workshop at the Downs School, Wraxall, with Years 4 to 8. The workshop was very successful, involving the whole school, with every child drawing preliminary sketches of gargoyles at the National Trust property Tynsfield House, then returning to make their own gargoyles with Bill. The workshop was part of the Downs School’s Arts Week.

I have a number of projects already set up and available or I can develop projects to run along side themes being worked on in the school and the National Curriculum.

The teaching of throwing on the wheel is also available, but can only be for small groups.

If you would like to talk about an idea for a workshop or discuss other projects I have run, please do contact Bill Moore.

Illustrated left is an images of a recent project working with a GCSE pupil on a one-to-one basis.
